Conducted by the Bureau of Industry and Security.

Managed by the Georgia District Export Council and the U.S. Commercial Service.

This three day program is led by BIS's licensing officers and professional counseling staff.

The “Complying with U.S. Export Controls” program provides an in-depth examination of the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). The program will cover the information exporters need to know to comply with U.S. export control requirements on commercial and dual-use goods. Focus will be on items and activities subject to the EAR; steps to take to determine the export licensing requirements for your item; how to determine your export control classification number (ECCN); when you can export or re-export without applying for a license; export clearance procedures and record keeping requirements; Export Management Compliance Program (EMCP) concepts; and real life examples in applying this information. Presenters will conduct a number of "hands-on" exercises that will prepare you to apply the regulations to your own company's export activities. This one-of-a-kind program is well suited for those who need a comprehensive understanding of their obligations under the EAR.  The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and the Office of Antiboycott Controls (OAC) will participate as well.

The “How to Develop an Export Management and Compliance Program” provides an in-depth examination of developing and maintaining an export management and compliance program.  It is highly recommended to ensure that export transactions comply with the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and to prevent export control violations. This one-day workshop provides an overview of the steps a company may take to implement an internal Export Management and Compliance Program.  Agenda topics include guidance on how to establish an EMCP; strategies to improve your company’s compliance program; how to avoid common compliance errors; and how to build a solid framework for your company’s compliance program. This program includes small group discussion, hands on exercises, one-on-one counseling opportunities, and compliance peer networking. This program will be led by senior export compliance specialists from the Bureau of Industry and Security. Note:  The information presented in this program is not a legal requirement of the Export Administration Regulations – EMCP’s are voluntary.  It is intended to give informational advice and guidance based on industry best practices in the field of compliance.  Attending the Complying with U.S. Export Controls program is highly encouraged to fully benefit from this one-day program.
