Description
Pornography addiction is an epidemic in America. Millions of men and women struggle. Catholic therapists need to be equipped to deal with this issue. This three-part seminar will discuss the severity of the pornography epidemic, the path of addiction, how to protect families, and how to help those who are addicted.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this seminar, participants will be able to:
-Describe the scope of the pornography problem in America.
-Explain the process by which a person can become addicted to pornography.
-Acquire practical tools on how to protect children from pornography and prepare teens to be able to reject pornography.
-Explain the recovery process for someone who is addicted to pornography.
-Know where to find resources to help those who struggle with pornography addiction.
- Know where to find resources for further training, certification and supervision in the diagnosis and treatment of pornography addiction.
Instructor
Peter C. Kleponis, Ph.D. is a Licensed Clinical Therapist and Assistant Director of Comprehensive Counseling Services in West Conshohocken, PA. He holds an M.A. in Clinical-Counseling Psychology from LaSalle University in Philadelphia, PA and a Ph.D. in General Psychology from Capella University in Minneapolis, MN. Dr. Kleponis has 15 years of professional experience working with individuals, couples, families and organizations. He specializes in marriage & family therapy, pastoral counseling, resolving anger, men’s issues, and pornography addiction recovery.
Dr. Kleponis travels throughout the country educating people on how to win the battle against pornography through his Fighting Porn in Our Culture…and Winning! program. He has presented his conferences to numerous dioceses, colleges, seminaries, religious communities, parent’s groups and other Catholic organizations.
Dr. Kleponis has also been a guest on EWTN television programs such as Women of Grace, Franciscan University Presents, and Crossing the Goal. He is a regular guest on Relevant Radio’s On Call program. In the Summer of 2012, his book, Internet Pornography Addiction: A Catholic Response will be published. Dr. Kleponis resides in Phoenixville, PA with his wife, Maria, and their son, John Paul.
