Clinical Informatics Academy

Purpose
The Clinical Informatics Academy is a two-day practical workshop for the Emory, VA, MSM, and Children’s clinical community who want to learn how informatics impacts and can be applied to their practice and research. Attendees will increase their baseline knowledge of clinical informatics fundamentals and practice. Attendees will learn how challenges can be addressed through the effective use of informatics via the academy’s interactive discussion, examples from real world problems and informatics systems, and a concluding panel discussion. Topics will include computing basics, system architecture, interoperability and standards, security, data warehousing, image archiving, decision support, and many more areas of clinical informatics.
Learning Objectives
Explain basic principles of clinical informatics
Identify informatics approaches and tools that can be applied in clinical settings
Explain the importance of standards, terminologies, and models in biomedical informatics
Who should attend
Physicians, nurses, clinical researchers, fellows, senior administrators, and anyone interested in learning the fundamentals of clinical informatics and how its application can advance quality patient care.
CME
The Emory University School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 12.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. The Emory University School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians
CE
Emory Healthcare is an approved provider unit of continuing nursing education by the Georgia Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. This activity provides up to 13 Nursing Contact Hours.
