Lincoln Park Zoo Safari

A workshop in travel photography that begins at the Gateway Pavilion at the entrance to Lincoln Park Zoo. The zoo gives us unique opportunities that are extremely valuale when learning the creative camera controls. First, our professional photographer will give you a 40-minute orientation on good photography technique: how to photograph people you know and people you don't know; how to photograph sculpture and animals. How to work in different types of lighting. How to capture and show motion. They will also help you understand your camera and explain what all those features on your camera do, especially the ones controlling F-stops, shutter speeds, white balance, and ISO.

Then you will travel through the zoo to photograph animals and birds in different settings to really help you truly understand the concepts.

At each point along the way, we will critique your photos as you are taking them, helping you to correct exposure, composition and white balance right on the spot, so that you can immediately see the effect of your own corrective measures. This hands-on training will give you invaluable photo techniques for your future travels. So, before you go on that big trip come see us first! Got a new camera and want to know how to use it? Help is right around the corner!

Three-hour safari, meets rain or shine. Bring your camera, lenses, and no tripod. All skill levels invited, with any kind of camera, point and shoot or SLR.
