Millennium Park Safari

A workshop in travel photography, conducted several times every month, that begins at Millennium Park's famous, shiny metallic Bean sculpture. Working in the shadow of the Bean, our professional photographer will first give you a 40-minute orientation on good photography technique: how to photograph people you know and people you don't know; how to photograph sculpture, how to show or stop motion, use selective focus, and how to make your building photographs architecturally correct. They will also help you understand your camera and explain what all those features on your camera do, especially the ones controlling F-stops, shutter speeds, white balance, and ISO.

Then you will go through beautiful Millennium Park to photograph some of Chicago’s finest scenery to help internalize the concepts.

Three-hour safari, meets rain or shine. Bring your camera, lenses, no tripod. All skill levels invited, with any kind of camera, point and shoot or SLR.

Working in the shadow of the Ferris Wheel, our professional photographer will first give you a 40-minute orientation on good photography technique: when is the best time to shoot night shots, how to meter, when and how to use your tripod. They will also help you understand your camera and explain what all those features on your camera do, especially the ones controlling F-stops, shutter speeds, white balance, and ISO.

Then you will walk along the pier and follow the river to the heart of the city to photograph some of Chicago’s beautiful downtown to truly understand the concepts while getting great shots.

Night Safari - Millennium Park

There will be 2 people per flight (plus the pilot, of course!) in this 4 seat aircraft. We include room for your equipment so everyone is comfortable (well, as comfortable as you can be in a Cessna, high wing aircraft!) :)

The flights will load and return just prior to each hour, (8-4pm) so you will actually get about 40 minutes of flight time. Seats are certainly limited, and this one will fill fast. Only $60 per person. If you desire longer flight times, please register twice (equivalent to 2 slots) and we will double your fun! At any rate...don't be late. Each timeslot affects the later slots, so we need to stay on schedule. We will be leaving ON SCHEDULE and will not be able to wait for any latecomers.

Because some people will request multiple time slots, we are taking general registrations online (for no specific start/end times). After receiving registrations, we will notify you of your exact start & end time. If you have a preferred start time that day, please include that in the provided question when you register, or call to see if that time is available (815-222-2824). After you register, we will contact you using your registration contact information to confirm your specific start and end times.

This event is, of course, weather permitting. If the forecast will not allow the event to take place, we will contact you on Friday, Oct 9 by 7pm to cancel. Assume we are a go unless you hear from us. If weather is an issue, you will receive a refund or reschedule opportunity.

Galena and the Northwest Territory

Event Description: If breathtaking scenery is your thing, then this safari is for you! We will be visiting a winery, Farmer?s Market, pottery studios, and watch an alpaca fleece demonstration. There are pumpkins, cobblestone streets, a fall art show, and even an old stockade. The drive through the Northwest Territory is beautiful any time of year, and this trip will really have a lasting impression. This safari promises to produce some of the most stunning photos of the year! We provide transportation between Rockford, IL and Galena, IL. Food / drink not included, however, there will be opportunities to purchase these throughout the day.
